Seidel, Frederick. FINAL SOLUTIONS
New York: Random House, [1963]. First edition of the poet's controversial first book. 8vo. In 1962 "Final Solutions" was awarded a prize by a jury of poets, including Robert Lowell. Prior to publication, however, charges of anti-Semitism and anti-Catholicism were levelled against the book. As a result the publisher, Atheneum, decided against the book's publication. Random House then stepped in and issued the book in the following year. It would be 17 years before Seidel had another book published. Unsurprisingly, few copies of "Final Solutions" have been available since that time. Fine in a fine dust jacket. Hardcover.
